Ruth W. Shive, 71, of Macungie, died, April 26, 2017 at home after a long battle with cancer. She was the wife of the Rev. Raymond P. Shive. Born in Washington, DC, she was a daughter of the late Ernest and Dorothy (Buglass) Wiles. She graduated with honors from Washington (DC) Bible College in 1967. She and Ray were married for nearly 50 years, all of which were spent in full-time ministry, first in church and Bible college settings in the USA, and then missionary work in South Africa and Jamaica. Ruth’s great love and focus was teaching the Bible to women and children. She was active at Bible Baptist Church of Breinigsville, through a variety of encouragement and teaching ministries. Ruth and Ray served with TEAMS for Medical Missions for 13 years.
Survivors: husband, Ray; son, Nathan and wife, Christy of Macungie; daughter, Amy, wife of Geoff Erb of Fuquay-Varina, NC; four grandchildren, Maggie and Paul Shive and Micah and Emma Erb; a sister, Dr. Martha Quick; brother, Dr. David Wiles; 30 nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two siblings, Dr. Peter Wiles and Lucy Crittenden.
Services: A memorial service is planned at Bible Baptist Church, Breinigsville, date and time to be announced by: Schmoyer Funeral Home.
